Sharing My Journey

3.jpg

I am always learning when it comes to Art. Despite planning & preparation my artwork evolves and pretty much heads in its own direction. I never really finish something I just sometimes need to stop! When I do stop and stand back to contemplate where I have ended up there is one thing that is almost always true (whether I like the piece or not) I would do it completely differently if I started over again!

Creating Controlled Acrylic Drips - Acrylic Drip Painting Technique

Updated: Jul 3, 2024

You may have watched Youtube videos demonstrating acrylic drip painting where splodges of paint are used as the reservoir from which drips will begin to run.... this can be messy and can be unpredictable as to whether you get the effect you initially had in mind.

A way to control your drip location and to be able to add more paint into your drip if you need the drip to flow further is to use a small squeezy bottle - this is so simple and ways less messy! You can build up your drips by layering them or choose to just have a few well placed drips.

TIP: By knocking or shaking your canvas you can also create a more jagged flow rather than a straight drip.

Materials: I use Golden Acrylic 'flow' or 'high flow' paint but you can used heavy body mixed thoroughly with water.

PS you can also use a nearly empty bottle to add splatter - if you give the bottle a quick squeeze!

Check out how easy it is in the video.....
