Sharing My Journey

3.jpg

I am always learning when it comes to Art. Despite planning & preparation my artwork evolves and pretty much heads in its own direction. I never really finish something I just sometimes need to stop! When I do stop and stand back to contemplate where I have ended up there is one thing that is almost always true (whether I like the piece or not) I would do it completely differently if I started over again!

Exhibition Poster & My Entries

A Celebration of Surrey’s Artistic Talent

Surrey has a rich community of artists working in many forms, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and mixed media. This exhibition highlights the depth and variety of local creativity. Whether you prefer traditional landscapes, abstract compositions, or innovative installations, you will find pieces that speak to your taste.

The event is designed to showcase the best of Surrey’s art scene, giving artists a platform to present their work to the public. It also allows visitors to engage directly with creators, learn about their inspiration, and understand the stories behind each piece.

What to Expect at the Exhibition

The exhibition is hosted at King Edwards School in Witley, a venue that offers a welcoming and spacious environment for displaying art. The school’s galleries and halls will be transformed into a vibrant showcase, with artworks thoughtfully arranged to create an enjoyable viewing experience.

Visitors can expect:

  • A wide range of media: Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, photography, and more.

  • Diverse styles: From realistic portraits and landscapes to contemporary abstract works.

  • Affordable and unique pieces: Many artworks are available for purchase, making it a perfect chance to find something original for your living space or garden.

  • Artist interaction: Opportunities to meet some of the artists, ask questions, and gain insight into their creative processes.

Why Buy Local Art?

Choosing art from local artists supports the community and encourages creativity in the region. Local art often reflects the environment, culture, and stories of the area, adding a personal touch to your collection. When you buy from Surrey artists, you invest in the future of the local art scene and help sustain the livelihoods of talented creators.

Additionally, local art can be a conversation starter in your home or garden. It carries meaning and connection that mass-produced pieces cannot match.

Tips for Visiting the Exhibition

To make the most of your visit, consider these tips:

  • Plan your visit: The exhibition runs for two weeks, so choose a day and time that suits you. Weekends might be busier, so weekdays could offer a quieter experience. On site parking is available.

  • Take your time: Explore the artworks carefully. Exhibition brochures are available to help with pricing - a red sticker means this artwork has already been sold.

  • Ask questions: If artists are present, don’t hesitate to engage with them. Their stories can add value to the pieces.

  • Think about your space: Consider where you might display a piece before purchasing. Some artworks are suitable for outdoor gardens, while others are better indoors.

Examples of Art You Might Find

While the exact lineup of artists and works will vary, here are some examples of what you could encounter:

  • Large scale sculptures located in the outdoor sculpture trail.

  • Handcrafted ceramics & castings with intricate glazing & finishes.

  • Large & small scale paintings capturing a huge array of subjects from animals to sea to landscapes.

  • Abstract mixed media pieces combining recycled materials and paint.

  • Textile art featuring hand-stitched patterns inspired by nature.

Each piece is a reflection of the artist’s vision and skill, offering something special for every visitor.

Events like this exhibition play a vital role in nurturing the arts in Surrey. They provide exposure for emerging and established artists and create a space where art lovers can connect with creators.
